By default PayPal is set to not prompt the buyer for a phone number for Express Checkout transactions. This can be a problem if you need to quickly contact the buyer before processing an order. Follow the steps in these guides to set the phone number to be required:
- Log into PayPal
- Click on Profile under My Account
- Click on My selling tools
- Click on Update next to Website preferences in the Selling online section
- Scroll down to the Contact Telephone Number heading
- Change the setting to On (Required Field)
