How do I add a counter or Snippet of HTML to the bottom of my home page?
ezimerchant Professional can easily add a snippet of HTML code to your home if you require it. The most popular use for this feature would be to add a counter or tracker to your home page. This will help to give you an idea of how many customers visit your web site. The information can then be used to help you market your web site.
If you have a specific snippet of HTML code you would like to add to your home page or you would like to add a third party counter, please follow the instructions below...
STEP 1
From the main screen in ezimerchant Professional select the 'Add New Pages to your Web Site' link.
STEP 2
Select the 'Home' page and then click the 'Properties' tab...
STEP 3
If you already have your snippet of HTML code you can simply paste it into the large white box at the bottom of the screen. ezimerchant Professional will automatically add your HTML snippet to the bottom of your home page the next time you generate your website.
If you would like to add a counter to your home page but don't already have some counter code see below..
Before you can add a counter to your web site you need to find an Internet Counter program. There are many internet based counters available however we recommend you speak to your hosting provider as they will probably have free counter code you can use on your web site.
IMPORTANT NOTES
- Some counter programs will supply you with different versions of the counter code. Choose the version designed for NON FRAME based sites. You do not want the frame based code.
- If your PC is offline when you generate your web site you probably wont see the counter at the bottom of your home page or you may see the familiar missing image marker (red cross) in its place. If you would like to see the counter you should remain connected to the internet. Some counters (such as those provided to you by your hosting provider) may only be visible once you upload your web site.
- Merchants have been tempted to copy and paste counter HTML code directly into the Home Page via the 'Add new pages to your web site' section of ezimerchant Professional. Please be aware that this is not a good way to add counter code to your home page and may result in JavaScript or other errors appearing on your home page. We ONLY recommend adding counter and tracking code to your home page using the method above.
